The retreat
We’ll be in the effervescent city of Albufeira, a coastal city in the southern Algarve region of Portugal, for a 5-day, 4-night writing retreat from Thursday 1st June to Monday 5th June.
The theme of the retreat is (Re)Starting to Write, the retreat is open to novice and seasoned writers, poets and creatives who want to nurture their writing practice. All workshops and tutorials will be geared towards developing your writing voice and building your creative confidence in a nurturing and pressure-free environment.
You will have the time and space to create new work, and you’ll also learn how to effectively self-edit your novel, poems, short stories or personal essays. You will leave the retreat with a practical toolkit, the foundations of a healthy writing practice, and a lifelong community of Black Women and Women of Colour writers from around the globe.
The days will be centred around the 2-3 hour workshop with plenty of downtime for swimming in the sea, and, of course, writing!
Sample retreat day
9 am – 10:00am Breakfast
10:30 am – 1:30 pm Workshop & writing time
1:30 pm – 4:00 pm Break
4:30 pm – 6:30 pm Boat trip
8 pm – Evening meal

GETTING HERE
You will arrive at Faro Airport. Roundtrip transportation is included regardless of when you arrive and depart within the retreat dates. Please note, the check-in time will be after 3pm.
PACKAGE
The full cost of the retreat is £1,650 per person, payable in 3 instalments. The fee will cover accommodation, daily breakfast, daily dinner, airport transfers, and all workshops and planned group activities.
Please note, the fee will not cover airfare, and we will not be providing alcohol, though you are welcome to purchase your own alcoholic beverages.

Payment option 1
Deposit of £300, monthly payments of £450 each (due on 1st March, 1st April & 1st May). To pay your deposit, click here the payment plan will be emailed to you within 48 hours.
