Corinne Crosbourne is a Black-British Woman of Jamaican Heritage, from North West London, but raised in Portsmouth, Hampshire. Corinne writes under the alias of ‘thewomanistwords’, sharing poetic accounts and stories of her experiences with mental health and racial trauma. In 2018 she contributed to the Colour Of Madness: Mental Health and Race in Technicolour, whilst graduating with a Law degree from the University of Leicester. Achieving an award for ‘Inspirational Achievement: Overcoming Adversity’, Corinne’s triumph through hardships was recognised by her university as a unique story.

 

As an activist in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Corinne has worked across various sectors to change narratives and behaviours that impact racialised and minoritised identities in the workplace and beyond. Currently working in a global remit in Toronto, Canada, Corinne is writing ‘Braided Realities’: a creative non-fiction book in a way that empowers Black women across the diaspora who have experienced mental health adversities, and equips them with the confidence to overcome their hardships.
