A’Ishah Waheed is a writer, illustrator, and creative facilitator. Her practice is rooted in embodiment, healing, finding the magic in the mundane, play as pedagogy, imagining and dreaming. She began her writing by regularly contributing articles to Skin Deep (race + culture) Magazine whilst also moved towards creative writing first through poetry, especially in connection with south asian and Islamic heritage, and then through fiction with REWRITE. She has begun a series of short stories focused on intergenerational healing in the style of magical realism, whilst continuing writing poetry. She is also now playing with drawing and words together; exploring the many ways illustration can embody storytelling.
