Dawn Davis

Dawn is a fiction writer from London. Her inspiration to take writing seriously was influenced by her father’s constant story-telling about his experience of growing up in Jamaica during the 1930s, and coming to the UK as a young man in the 1950s. Whilst studying for an MA at Birkbeck University, Dawn won the Sophie Warne studentship for an extract from a story, which she hopes to turn into a book.

Dawn enjoys reading books that allow a slow burn of emotions to take centre stage and explore the themes of loss, belonging and the dynamics in family relationships. She also likes to read historical fiction, where the main characters are people of colour.
