ANDREA BEGINNERS CREATIVE WRITING COURSE – 6-week course
Named after the legendary British-Caribbean writer, Andrea Levy, this course aims to develop your writing skills and build your confidence in a supportive and encouraging environment. Open to beginners and those looking to strengthen their writing skills. Throughout this practical course, you will explore fundamental techniques to fuel your creative spirit, even when inspiration is running low. The course also includes feedback on your work.
By the end of the course, you will have a writing toolkit, complete with hints and tips to support you along your writing journey. You will become part of a warm, supportive community, fostering connections with other Black Women & Women of Colour writers worldwide.

Course content
- Week 1: Introduction – Embarking on the Writing Journey & Generating Ideas
- Week 2: Crafting Compelling Characters – Creating Believable Characters
- Week 3: Plot Development – Weaving a Seamless and Engaging Narrative
- Week 4: Setting, Description & Immersive Writing – Building a Vivid, Enthralling World
- Week 5: Perspectives & Dialogue Essentials – Crafting Authentic Dialogue
- Week 6: Editing Foundations – Polishing and Perfecting Your Work
All of the sessions will be a mixture of tuition and writing in class.
